In addition to his film and television writing, David has written several pieces for the stage, mostly comedy sketches and stand up, but works exclusively on new and original musicals with his writing partner, Collin Martin. He resides in Los Angeles.
COLLIN MARTIN
Collin Martin has studied music for the majority of his life. He started piano lessons at age 6 and still actively plays today. In high school, he found a love for percussion and sat principle in several different ensembles. Collin continued his percussive studies in the Conservatory of Music at Chapman University, located in Orange, California. During his stay at Chapman, he discovered a new passion for composing, and promptly added composition as a second major. His composition teachers included Shaun Naidoo, Sean Heim, Jeffrey Holmes, and Vera Ivanova. Collin studied percussion with Nicholas Terry and sat principle in a variety of ensembles within the conservatory.
Collin currently attends California State University Northridge in pursuit of a Masters of Music Degree in Composition. His composition teachers include Liviu Marinescu and Daniel Hosken. Since Collin was a child, he's had a passion for musicals and he hopes that his musical career can center on the creation and production of new musical theatre.
THE HUDSON THEATRES
Established in 1991 by co-founder Elizabeth Reilly, The Hudson Theatres have received considerable recognition for their artistic contributions over the years including hundreds of awards and nominations from LA Weekly, Los Angeles Drama Critic’s Circle, Ovations, NAACP, GLAADMEDIA and DramaLogue. Most notably, in 1992, the Hudson received the LADCC award for establishing a new vibrant theatre district in Hollywood by creating the industrious "Theatre Row Hollywood." That same year, Lily Tomlin presented us with the Charlie Award given to the Hudson Theatre by the Hollywood Arts Council for our "meritorious contributions to Hollywood." In 2004, we again received recognition for our work on Theatre Row Hollywood by both the California State Assembly as well as the City of Los Angeles itself. We always endeavor to present the highest caliber of theatre possible and hope that you will continue supporting our work at the Hudson Theaters.
THE HOLLYWOOD FRINGE FESTIVAL
The Hollywood Fringe Festival is an annual celebration of the emerging arts.
Environments for the Fringe include both traditional and unorthodox venues; fully equipped theatres, street corners, clubs, bars, and places unexpected. Performances are self-produced by local, national, and international arts companies and independent performers. In the spirit of most Fringes, participation is open and uncensored.
Hollywood is home to dozens of Los Angeles’ premiere theatres and clubs, making it the perfect spot for the 2010 festival. The neighborhood has always been a source of unapologetic opinion, underground mentality, and a deep passion for the cutting-edge. The Hollywood Fringe is an immersive festival worthy of the neighborhood’s reputation. The company is establishing partnerships with arts companies, community organizations, and other local businesses in the Hollywood area to host and participate in the festival.
The Festival takes place June 17-27, 2010.
